Hi, I'm Abby.
A birth doula, educator, wife, and mother.
My passion is in educating and inspiring women to find their inner voice - a voice that is so uniquely theirs - and how to embrace it with confidence, grace, and love.
I was born and grew up in Northern Virginia, with parents who taught me to live a life built on learning. They gave me the tools to develop my learning, and then inspired me to use my voice to share my knowledge with others. Prior to becoming a birth doula, I worked for a few years in a variety of roles including teaching high school, tutoring, coaching girls soccer, and as an editor.
I married my husband (Logan) in 2009, and we welcomed our first bundle of joy in 2011. Ever since then, pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting have become my favorite topics to learn about.
Fast forward a few years later, we settled in North Carolina. We welcomed three more babies to our family (born 2013, 2016, and 2021). I started training to become a birth doula in 2016 after my first experience with an out-of-hospital birth. I saw firsthand how empowering it is to know your options, to be surrounded by a caring birth team, and to move freely through labor. I wanted my family, friends, and all the women I knew to experience that same empowerment.
One of my favorite phrases is "being an instrument in the hands of God" and as I have pondered that over and over again - it's led me to right now. I am truly humbled and honored to use my voice, my hands, and my heart to inspire women (and their families) as they bring their babies into the world. I believe every birthing family deserves a doula, and I welcome the opportunity to facilitate that.
In my spare time, you can find me - traveling to new places, baking sourdough, reading, and juggling 4 kids and a husband in Charlotte, NC.
